Blogging.. Today is friday. [*big sigh of relief*] and [*trumpet fanfare in background*] it's a FOUR DAY WEEKEND!!!!!
Lots of thigs to blog about ... Anthrax.. not the band, the disease.. what a world we live in. now, anthrax is not any thing special, it's a potentially fatal disease, but only one form of it can be spread from person to person. This is a very good thing. Also the anthrax that has been used in warfare so far is not one that's immune to antibiotics (lets just hope they don't get crazy enough to devope a antibiotic resistant baterium -- it's not hard, just dangerous)
I wonder if irradiation would be helpfull.. It would be expencive but I think it would be worth the cost to hvae every single piece of mail irradiated. I think we should be doing this with meat and produce too. If irradiated meat was more available I'd buy it, just so that there's a market for it and more food is irradiated.
Eh I'm tired, I'm gonna blog more later.

ok, so. I'm blogging.. la de da .. now, what shall I blog about? I want people to read this.. so I need to update it frequently.. tell your friends. read my blog. it's less harmfull than smoking pot, or so It would seem.
I'm going to build myself a webserver... and those of you loyal to my blog will be thinking "but diddn't you say you were gonna build one a looong time ago?" Well yes. but now I have the money to do so.. I'm gonna retire my trusty 350Mhz PII and build a 1.4 GHz Athlon. I need a new domain name.. I have one allready, and I need one thats more of a personal site for me.. Chaz has blogtography.com and merc has mercuryfrog.com Al has reacharound.com ect ect ect.. I think I'm gonna see if I can come up with a personal domain name for my site. I could get farmerjoe.net or something but eh.. I dunno.. I'll have to think aobut it..
I've considered getting a web cam. I don't really have the $30 to get one right now, so if any of you would like to pitch in a buck or two to the "Get FJ a webcam" fund, it'd be greatly appreciated... opr maybe I should talk people into donating to the red cross .. instead... hmm ooh I got it.. donate blood and I'll put away money toward me getting a web cam .. there we go... donate blood, and show me a shot of you with your donor card and/or wound from donating and I'll throw in $2 toward getting a webcam.

Blogging again... twice in the same day..
I went to Wal-mart today. I purchased a new mouse. The generic one I was using (or trying to use anyway) wasn't working at all... I like optical mice. I also purchased a copy of Monty Python and the Holy Grail on DVD.. my DVD collection is growing heh heh.
I went to see the movie Startup.com . It was a ok movie. I wouldn't say it was a great movie. It was a bit long. I think about 20 min could have been knocked off. about 2/5ths into the movie it starts to drag. but then it picks up again. The only thing that sticks out about this movie is the way the film makers seemed to be in the right place at the right time. ... I don't know how I feel about this movie. I give it 2 out of 5 stars. It is a documentary, this movie was pieced together well. it just told a story .. it didn't teach any thing, it' just lived. I took nothing from this slice of life docu. nothing. It was interesting to see these lives in the dot com business world. However there are no life lessons, no words of wisdom to be gained here. I was inspired to follow my own goal though. Not by the people portrayed, but but the film as a film . I think that I'd love to give this kind of thing a shot. and seeing how this one was done I realizes that these things take time, and it shouldn't always be rushed. Perhaps I've rushed things, Timing is everything, yet it takes time to produce great work. I think I want to make music videos. well I know that I do, I have for some time. I plan to build a new computer this winter,. I plan to put in a hefty video card,. now I want mpeg1 encoding (or better yet mpeg2.) I'm worried about the hardware encoder using some proprietry format. The video card in my brothers machine does that. sure you can encode in mpeg on the fly but then you have to have drivers that also require the hardware. Thats no good for me. I'll explore my hardware options in the coming months,. It'll take me that long to save up the money.. and maybe longer if I take a trip in January. I'd love to go some where again. so.. if you want me to come visit tell me and I'll look into it.

It's been a while since I've blogged.. so here we go...
Today is Sunday the 7th of October, what a beautiful day. the sun is a bright blue the grass is still green, and the leaves are just starting to change. I have my window open, there's a slight breeze. Today is a good day to get my butt out of my jail cell of a room and do something. After I blog I'm gonna go to the store. I need to go to Wal-mart. About a week ago I lost my calculator. my $100+ TI-86. being the poor college student that I am, it's not cool to loose something that expencive.. I did know where I had left it, and I don't expect to loose it again any time soon. It was picked up by a TA, and I was able to get it back in exactly one week. In the mean time I had to find a repacement. I had a Chemestry quiz coming up. I needed a decent calc. A ti-36 like the one I had in High school would have served me well, but I diddn't see any at wal-mart.. and I diddn't want to buy another TI-86 at $110, so I went with a TI-82. I swear, this has to be the worst calculator TI has built. I did a little reasearch the other day and I read about how the TI-82 came out after the TI-85/86 it was dumbed down per request of the teachers who evaluated the earler models. I ask you, what the heck is the point of a simplified calcualtor when it cost so much.?? a TI=36 scientific calculator is a darn good one, it served me well in high school. and now I'm up to a TI-86. it's got lots of nice calc things in it. why would you buy a calculator for $80 when for about $30 more you can get one that will serve you beyond advance calc? dosn't make sence to me. But back to the point of my story, I'm taking the TI-82 back to wal-mart, gotta love their return policy.
While I'm there I'm gonna get some supplies that I need. Hopefully I can find a mouse. this piece of garbage mouse I have now dosn't work. i'm gonna go back to the corded mice . yeah that's right. FJ is gonna give up the cordless mouse world. I'm fed up with them . Now if only Logitech would put a scroll wheel on the cordless hand held trackballs. I'd buy one of those in a second.
I just got done doing laundry, yeah I did laundry this morning. excitng eh? I wonder though, if my children or grand children ever read this blog, they might find even the most borring things about me somewhat interesting. My grandpa has so many stories, he's told me some things about when he was around my age. When I visited a couple weeks ago, I got some insight on what the relationship between him and my great grandfather was like. My grandpa told me what he said to him .. and he remembers it in englsih (tells me in english) but his father spoke to him in german. (and my grandpa remembers a good deal of german although he hasn't really used it in decades). That's amazing to me. I can't imagine what it could have been like to be my age in the 40s. To have parents who were born and raised across a huge span of the earth. To work up to a dollar a day pay and be excited about it. I'm glad manual hay bailing is obsolete. For those of you who don't know, bailing hay, as they did it then is freiking hard work. lots of heavy lifting and stuff. My grandpa could bail hay with the best of them. He was in excelent health at my age. Seeing that I wonder if I'll be fortunate enough to live as long as he has. Althouh when he's having a bad day, he wonders if living that long is of any worth. He has some health problem. He has congestive heart failure. None of us can tell how long it will be before his body just wears out. It's really sad to think that it's this way, not that one day he'll be gone, but that he's becoming weary to the point that he will wear out and cease to exist. Somehow, to me. it's not a pleasant thought.
Friday night my dad poped up on AIM , (that's gotta be a sign of the times.. when my dad was little all they had a party line, now my dad dosn't even call, he talks to me over the instant messinger.) He told me That my grandma had fallen and had spent a day or two in the hospital, she diddn't break any thing, just got brused up. She's going to spend some time in the nursing home. She's loosing her ballance because of Alzheimers' disease. It's really sad. As her brain deteriates so does the rest of her. .
.. since it's allready 1:30 I'm gonna get my butt moving and blog when I get back..
