Nor...... fork?
So, it's been a while since i've updated my blog.. here's the last month in a nutshell
I started working at my new job. I like my new job. There are things I don't like, but the things I don't like are data entry type things. I can live with it. I wish that I was more of a computer support person though.. It's hard for me to hand things off all the time. Many times I'm thinking to myself "I can fix that" or "hmm I bet I can Google for an answer" but my job, when I'm on help desk duty, is to hand things off to other people. Using the phone has been intersting. So far we are not to answer the phone, just let the voice mail get it and then go from there. We were to answer the phone live starting in february, but we'll see. The people are nice, the pay is pretty good.
At the begining of February I moved into a new apartment in Norfolk. It's a nice two bedroom. It's on the second (top) floor and the entrance is on the out side. (meaning that there is no shared hallway.) The previous tenants were smokers, the plase kindof stinks, but not too badly, there are cigarette burns in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. And the smoke alarm was taken out of commision. Other than that it's a pretty nice apartment. It's in a great location. It's a good neighborhood and because Norfolk is small, everything is close. The neighbors seem nice.
Johny carson passed away. No that dosn't affect my own life I suppose. but I'm living in his home town. My place of work would'nt be what it is today if it were not for Johny Carson. I guess, in addition to being thankful for his generosity to his home town, I get a little bit of hope that being from northeast Nebraska dosn't hinder my chances of being very sucessful. (though it does make me wonder how benificial it is to stay here.)
Ok so that nutshell was busting apart with stuff oozing out all over the place.
I diddn't feel very well yesterday. I felt ok for most of the day, had a bit of trouble concentrating, and caffiene diddn't seem to help. After work I felt like crap. The director of my department went to Dairy Queen and bought ice cream for all of us... Thgouh I've been on Atkins all week I thought "aw why not" and enjoyed some ice cream on a stick. I suspect that the change in blood sugar, plus being horribly lacking of sleep made me feel bad. 6:00 rolled around adn I wasn't hungry, (again I suspect the sugar), but I wanted to run to the store and decided I'd get some food while I was at it. I spent about an hour looking for my keys. (that's how tired I was... I nearly went insane) Then I checked my mail, (more on that in a bit), and went to Wal=mart. I recall craving sugar. I was still feeling like crap, so I thoguht booze might be helpfull. Not really sure what to get I grabed a 6-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade, and thinking since I was drinking the regular stuff and not the low carb stuff I grabbed a thingy of wal-mart cookies as well. The cookies were crap. I ate a few of them and eventually ate them all. I eventually went to Burger King and got some "real" food.
I talked to Manda a little while last night and that made me feel a little better. I'm still in kind of a funk today but I've had worse.
I'm writing this post from my apartment so obviously I have high speed internet. I went with cable, got the 3000kbps plan. I was concerned that the upstream wouldn't be enough with the 1500kbps plan. (I also got the most basic of cable packages, they give you a discount if you get both TV and internet) Getting cable allows me to completely avoid the phone company all together. I got a VoIP plan from packet8.net The service is excellent. Sound quality is as good or better than a traditional phone , and all of my calls are included in the $20 a month I pay for the service. I also get a load of other features like voice mail, caller ID etc. I've not used any of them yet.
