Goodbye to "S"
Note:: I saved this as a draft intending to add to it.. silly me. that was nearly a MONTH (tonight is 8/18) ago. so, here it is in it's origonal.. un-added-to glory
The new Harry Potter book is out now. Perhaps some one who reads this can explain something I witnessed tonight. Vernie had to work the night shift tonight, so her brother and I went to Hastings to pick up a copy of the book. We got there at about 11:45. I knew there'd be a line and perhaps a mad dash. I saw two large lines when I walked into the store and I say to one of the people working there. "Where does the line start?" (as in where do I need to stand to be in line?) One of them says to me "Did you reserve a copy?" I reply "No." and I thought to myself "Thats why I'm here at nearly midnight, so that I can get a copy before they sell out." The the three women empoyees seemed surprised somehow. Aparently people don't trust the reservation systems. They pay their $5 to reserve their copy of hte book then show up at 11:30 and wait in a long long line which dosn't start moving untill midnight. Hello!! You don't need to wait in line, the book will still be there in the morning! That's what the reservation was for.. you see.. they .. get this now.. "reserve" a copy of the book for you.
Anyway, I inquired about the number of books were not reserved, and they replied with "lots". I looked around untill the lines dwindled to near nothingness grabbed a book and
got in line. The whole process took 45 minutes.. had I known how it was going to work I would have just driven there at 12:30 and the process would have taken a mere 5 minutes
We've had an aquarium for several weeks now. We started with three mollies, and two tetras, but the mollies diddn't last very long. we waited a while and the tetras continued to do well. We added some plants, and we had some happy fish. a few weeks ago we added three neon tetras and a corydora. One neon tetra had a freak accident with the filter intake, but the other two are doing quite well. The corydora seems to be doing fine, and he's growing.
On the 4th of July we went to see the new zombie movie (Land of the Dead) in the theatres, and we came home that evening and discovered we suddenly had 6 small snails. We thought "oh, how cute" and "where did they come from?" Turns out it's somewhat common for snail eggs to come in on plants. one or both of the two plants
