Once a month is barely enough. ...

Aquarium status: No more mollies from Wal-Mart! we had some mollies and they died, we started over with some tetras, and then added 4 mollies and now they're dead too. They all seem to suffer the same fate.. some kind of slow molly paralisis. It's sad to watch them go like that... slowly... so no more of them. Currently we have two tetras, two tetra neons, and a corydora. The corydora still seems to be growing and is very healthy looking. The tetras are about the same and seem like happy fish.

We started with 6 tiny little snails about 10 weeks ago. It diddn't take long before the population exploded. I counted over 15 in a 3 inch by 3 inch area of the tank one night. Some thorough searching online has brought me to the conclusion that they are "tadpole snails". They devoured the two new plants, (strangely they diddn't eat the first plant, a different variety) and after talking to a guy at the pet store, we decided to evacuate the snails. That was about 2 weeks ago. I would have liked to keep 2 or 3, but you can't stop them from multiplying and devouring the plants. So, out they go. Vernie does not want to have them exterminated, so we've moved them to a bucket. Having the snails by themselvs has supported my hypothesis that they polute the tank. (I wondered if the snail population boom was causing the poor health of the mollies but I no longer think it was a factor).

Futile resistance?
Two weeks ago I went to the Boystown National Research Hospital I got me a fancy and high tech Sonovation Nano-XP/D. It's interesting.... I got it with an FM reciever "boot" that attaches to it, and an FM transmitter. That will be nice for meeting situations and it's very nice in the car, I can switch it to FM only mode, Vernie will wear the transmitter around her neck and her voice is inside my head.
One of the things that will take getting used to is the way it makes everything sound like it's inside my head.
I'm going to Omaha tomorrow to have the settings tweaked a bit, Also Vernie's little brother, who's been staying with us the last month and a half will be flying back home.
